A bitumen decanter is an insulated enclosed box-type equipment to heat bitumen drums. It is separated into two sections: upper and lower. The upper section contains hot oil circulation coils and drums to be heated for bitumen melting, while the lower section contains a reservoir tank for molten bitumen. There are entry gates in front of the facility and exit gates in the back for bitumen drums. The drum is lifted upside down and loaded into the unit using hydraulic lifters on the entry gates. Two to four rows of bitumen drum decanters, each row of 9 or 10 drums, can be melted in a batch, depending on the model.
